Legal Responsibility
As an oil user, you have legal responsibilities for maintaining your oil tank. This is because any spillages from an oil tank leak can cause significant damage to the environment. This damage can be expensive to rectify and hazardous to health if the polluting of waterways comes into effect.
There is no mandatory requirement to upgrade a faulty tank, but it is unlawful to cause pollution. You could face a large fine and criminal prosecution if you fail to prevent a spill.
Our Assurance
A valid oil spill insurance policy requires an annual inspection by an OFTEC engineer and all maintenance and remedial works identified are carried out. Abbey Heating will carry out a full inspection of your oil tank, notify you of any defects and recommend measures to rectify failings.
If we deem that your tank is beyond repair, then we will advise upon a new oil tank installation. Please contact us to discuss replacing you old oil tank, or installing your new oil tank.

How it works
On agreement of the quotation and once your oil tank replacement has been booked into our system, this is what we’ll do prior to and on the day of replacement / installation…
Prior
Abbey Heating Limited will be contact with you within 48 hours that are engineers are due to be with you, to confirm what time to expect us. On the day of oil tank installation, our team will arrive with your new plastic or steel oil tank and all the materials and tools needed.
Arrival
On arriving at your premises we will assess the situation and pump out any clean / use-able fuel from your tank into our holding tank.
Please Note: that all water and contaminated oil will be filtered out, removed and disposed of by ourselves.
Removal
Your old oil tank will then be removed for decommissioning. If base adjustments are needed, they will be undertaken in readiness of the installation of your new oil tank. Your new Steel or Plastic oil tank will be positioned and connected to the oil supply line.
Install
The oil that we initially removed will then be pumped and filtered back from our holding tank into your new oil tank. On leaving your site we will ensure that your boiler/Aga will fire up and that everything is left clean and tidy.
